In a brand renewal project, it employed the services of Nendo, founded by Oki Sato in 2002. A minimalist designer, Sato believes the key to good design is simplicity. With Symmetrick he aimed to create a simple yet innovative design that is easy for the user to understand.

“Most roof cargo boxes mimic the form of the car, creating a sense of speed and close affinity between the box and the car. We chose a form that’s symmetrical front to back as well as left to right,” explains Sato. This dual symmetry not only looks good, but also has a functional purpose so the carrier can be fitted to the roof with either side facing frontwards. This means that the box can open either on the left or the right side of the car.
